ALRIGHTY THEN!! I did finally get a new amp since the Randall bit the dust, looked at Krank Rev jr, Egnator Rebel, heck even an epiphone valve Jr.(which sounded really good actually Shocked ) but the winner is the Fender Super Champ XD. Google it and you will see nothing but good things on this amp. 15watt Tube amp. 2 chanell, lots of built in effects.
Channel 1 is your basic fender clean and it is NICE!
Channel 2 is interesting because you have 16 different sounds to choose from from clean to overdriven to metal to acoustic, basically amp models.

Also has lots of built in effects delay, reverb, chorus, tremolo, etc and various comination of those effects together. These are Digital effects but they sound better than any I have heard on amps that cost more than this. EXTREMELY usable effects.

I heard a friend using one for band practice and thought it sounded amazing. Exactly what I wanted, small portable and REAL TUBES!! 2 channel is sweet though you have to buy the footswitch seperately Sad

Got a good deal because they had it mismarked at Guitar Center!! What sucks is Fender went up on their prices like 20% across the board about 6 months ago, so if I had bought it then would have been a real Steal for this amp.

The sound blows me away, I have been looking for a tube amp, low watts, and affordable, and the XD NAILS IT! I don't really need a stack and 99% of the time in my experiance playing we always mike up the amps through the PA anyway. It Really is pretty loud just playing at the house I don't go past 3 on volume.

It takes my Boss pedals VERY WELL! My superoverdrive sounds killer through this amp. Most of the comments i have seen on this amp are great and a lot of guys recommend swapping out the stock speaker with an eminence Rajun Cajun. it is only a 10" speaker and they say the Rajun Cajun makes a BIG difference, so I may do that next.

If you are in the market for a smaller, affordable, very portable tube amp with nice featurs, check this one out. Google it, youtube it, play one if you get the chance.

DISCLAIMER: This is not really a METAL amp, but that isn't what i was looking for. My metalzone doesn't sound so hot through it, but I dont think the Metalzone sounds hot through anything! I learned a long time ago more gain doesn't always = metal!

It DOES get a nice tube Crunch on the second channel on a few settings but I prefer my superoverdrive on channel 1.

Boo to you sir, the Metalzone is awesome.

just as long as you don't want to play anything else that isn't metal... active pickups help too... OK so it has its limitations... basically just metal.

I second that ! I use a Robert Keeley Metalzone and it kicks ass on every amp...just a matter of the right settings Very Happy

I designed a guys website that does killer pedal mods that's cheaper than Keeley and every bit as good imo.

Keeley himself doesn't even work on pedals anymore, he has a shop full of techs, but my guy does all of his own work.

Robert's definitely good people though and I agree that a stock metalzone is harsh.

I've had that metal zone for a long time and have fiddled with the settings A LOT. on Several Different amps. My built in distortion on my old Randall RG100SC was WAY better. Believe me I've tried. And I think Boss pedals are GREAT! there's just something missing from the Metalzone. I've tried to like it......really. I'm sure a modified one like Joss' is an improvement though. Im a big fan of Amp distortion I guess. My friends Dual Rectifier certainly didn't need any pedals when I played it. Just my own opinion guys Very Happy

I agree that tube amp distortion is much better than a pedal but the pedal just offers more diversity in your arsenal.

I'm with that on the Dual Recto. Here's the chassis of mine w/an integrated quad of JJ KT88's and KT66's, a pair of JJGZ34 for the rectifier side and high gain JJECC83's for the pre amp.

Crunch and thunder:

SUPER CHAMP CRAPPED OUT LAST WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!! good news is Fender has a 5 yr warranty. Bad news is the repair guys say it will take 3-4 weeks to get to it. Unless I want to pay them a $50.00 rush charge to look at it same day. Or $25 to look at it this week. That's just to diagnose it. not fix it. May still have to wait on parts.

What a scam.

That is a scam indeed , you've got warranty but have to pay to get it fixed right away...i would complain about that to Fender Hq sounds like a money in the side trick of the repair guys.
I am very lucky, my amp builder is in this town and is very small so i just walk in and they help me whenever, supercool!

That is Awesome Jos.......... I might get a new amp, Fender will do that if the repair cost is to high. More cost effective just to send me a new one. I have had no problems with this little guy so far. I like it for what it is. Need to get me an Orange or Jet City instead......though!
